Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186)
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa (Subclass 186) is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers who are nominated by their employer. This visa allows skilled workers to live and work in Australia permanently. The ENS Visa is designed to help Australian businesses address skill shortages by enabling them to sponsor qualified foreign workers.

Streams of ENS Visa (Subclass 186)
- Direct Entry Stream: For applicants who are nominated by their employer and have never, or only briefly, worked in Australia or are applying directly from overseas.
- Temporary Residence Transition Stream: For applicants who hold a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa (Subclass 482) or a related bridging visa and have worked for their employer for at least two years in the nominated occupation.
- Labour Agreement Stream: For applicants who are nominated by an employer through a labour agreement that has been negotiated with the Australian government.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nomination: Be nominated by an approved Australian employer.
- Occupation: Have an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list.
- Skills Assessment: Obtain a suitable skills assessment for your occupation if required.
- Work Experience: Meet the work experience requirements for the nominated stream.
- English Language: Demonstrate competent English language proficiency.
- Age: Be under 45 years of age at the time of application (some exceptions apply).
- Health and Character: Meet health and character requirements.
- Labour Agreement: If applying under the Labour Agreement Stream, be nominated through a labour agreement.
